LOTUS NOW!
LOTUS NOW!

On December 14th, The Friends Of The Schooner Lotus (FOTSL) purchased the boat from the Seneca Waterways Council.  On December 21st, the LOTUS was transported to Beacon Bay Marina in Cayuga for indoor winter storage and assessment.  Cayuga Wooden Boat Works at the same location will provide FOTSL with estimates of a series of repairs and restorative work so fundraising can begin.  CWBW is willing to begin work very soon when funds become available.  Please help us get her back in the water soon!

The Future

The Friends of the Schooner Lotus, Inc (FOTSL) has incorporated as a non-profit corporation in New York State.  The 501(c)(3) application has been submitted to the IRS and is pending.  On December 14, 2020, the LOTUS was sold to FOTSL by the Seneca Waterways Council and has assumed ownership.
On December 21 the LOTUS was transported from Katlynn Marine to Beacon Bay Marina in Cayuga and put into the care of Cayuga Wooden Boat Works.  Repair and restoration estimates will be forthcoming.
The masts, booms and spars and a lot of hardware remain in Sodus Point to facilitate work to be done by Sea Scouts and other volunteers.
The new Board of Directors will now begin the fundraising efforts so we can get the boat back in the water and begin supporting itself!
We'll keep you informed as the process unfolds!

Relocation
Relocation

The LOTUS has been moved to Beacon Bay Marina in Cayuga and placed on a trailer cradle which makes it possible to move her around the property and into the Cayuga Wooden Boat Works shop which is also on these premises!

Restoration
Restoration

Restoration estimates and plans have been received from Cayuga Wooden Boat Works.
Estimates range from $229,000 to $394,000 depending on various factors.
$50,000 are required to start the work.
